Meet the Founder
My name is Ashley House, founder of Eleazar Encounter Counseling, LLC. This is a practice that was birthed out of a deep desire of mine to see people live restored and well. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, and I earned my Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health from Regent University and my Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies from the University of Georgia.
As a counselor, I believe many are searching for a place to belong; a place to feel loved and accepted. For some it comes easily, but for many it means going on a journey, a path that involves inner healing from rejection, loss, fears, and unworthiness. I feel called to walk alongside those in need of such help.
Over the past 15 years I have worked closely with young people in both church and formal work settings. Since completing my graduate counseling degree in 2016, I have gained extensive experience in play therapy, family therapy, and trauma. I have worked with a wide variety of people including children, pre-teens, teens, young adults, and parents. Recently, I received training in EMDR therapy, and find it to be a powerful form of therapy that promotes healing to the whole person: physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually!
Each of us is at a different point on our journey, and I look forward to helping people feel safe and comfortable so they can find that inner healing. I have a calling to Christian counseling, and my life experiences and current role in ministry, provide me a unique opportunity to incorporate my Christian faith into my work with others. I have helped with youth ministry for over 10 years, and am currently serving as a pastor's wife at our new church plant.
I have been married to my wonderful husband for 12 years. We have three kiddos, two girls and a boy. In my off time, my family and I will usually be found traveling, playing outside, hosting gatherings, or enjoying big cuddles with our kids!
Christian Counseling
The name, Eleazar, means “God has helped.” There are seasons in our lives when we feel as though the enemy is gaining more ground than we are. There are times we feel like we are facing battle after battle, and it’s exhausting!
The Lord has showed me and many others that He does indeed give us victorious lives, despite all the traumas and hurts. God promises in His word over and over again that if we stand our ground and cling to Him, He will always bring the victory. This is exemplified in 2 Samuel 23, which led to the name of the ministry. In this passage, we see that Eleazar is standing in a battle, standing ground, holding his sword. The scriptures say Eleazar was exhausted; “he stood his ground, with his hand clinging to the sword, long enough for his hand to be fused to it!” Could you imagine holding a sword that long? There’s no way Eleazar could have done that in his own strength. Yes, he had to endure the battle and the time it took, BUT God, in His mercy, came through providing BOTH strength and victory!
This story is a powerful demonstration of God being our help during the impossible seasons of our lives. And just like it says in Isaiah 40:29, “He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.” We can all experience and receive this mercy in seasons when our battles seem impossible to fight alone.
Not one battle or season is cookie cutter, and I know there is no formula to having victory in your life. I do, however, believe there’s a God who is your never-change changing and has key principles available in His word, that you and I can use together to bring life-altering change and victory in your life!
